Andrews Government must save HAWC from closure

Andrew Katos, Member for South Barwon, Simon Ramsay, Member for Western Victoria and Sarah Henderson, Federal Member for Corangamite are calling upon the State Government to fund the Healthy Ageing and Wellbeing Centre (HAWC) located in Belmont.

The St Laurence run HAWC provides care to both ageing members of the community and people living with a disability and also people recovering from cancer treatment under the Strive to Thrive Program.

HAWC is a unique facility for the Geelong community that assists people who have suffered the financial and physical burden of a serious or life threatening illness or disability.

Under the supervision of qualified exercise physiologists and Allied Health Assistants with access to a Dietician and Occupational Therapist participants are given support to become independent to continue to undertake daily tasks.

Unfortunately St Laurence has taken the decision that without additional external funds the Association cannot continue to provide this service.
