Daniel Andrews Ignores Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club

Daniel Andrews is ripping $1 million out of the Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club (which dates back to the 1960s), which the Coalition pledged to re-vamp at the 2014 election.

The Member for South Barwon raised this important issue in Parliament, calling on the Minister to immediately fund the reconstruction of the Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club.

In a letter responding, the Minister for Emergency Services, Jane Garrett admitted that the Club Rooms are “unsuitable to meet the growing demands posed by significant population growth in the area and significant increases in tourism.” She also acknowledged the “vital role” the Club plays in “community wellbeing and safety.”

The Minister is passing the buck by saying that Life Saving Victoria is responsible for prioritising facilities upgrades.

Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club has approximately 900 members and is forecast to grow significantly.
