Letter to the Editor – South Barwon students deceived

I read with interest last week where Daniel Andrews has tried to take credit for three new schools in South Barwon electorate.  This is completely false.

The Armstrong Creek Primary School, Armstrong Creek Special School and Torquay North Primary School were all initiatives of the previous Liberal State Government and were all funded in the 2014/2015 Victorian State Budget.

Due to the inaction and dithering of Daniel Andrews, Torquay North Primary School will now open one year later than scheduled in 2018 instead of 2017 as originally planned.

This incompetence will see additional pressure placed on Torquay P6 College (over 1000 students) and Bellbrae Primary School (approx. 425 students) which are both struggling to cope with large student numbers.

Given that Daniel Andrews wants to call Victoria the Education State he also needs to explain why his 2014 election commitment to build the Armstrong Creek West Primary School has not been honoured?  The Andrews Labor Government has no funding allocated to buy land and build the school.

Yours sincerely
